How we began

In 2018, our founder Mads Aarup Pedersen had an idea. He’d spent almost two decades in the banking world, witnessing the challenges faced by credit departments and knew there had to be a better way.

By combining his deep expertise in credit decisioning with new Open Banking technology, he aimed to create a world where compliant loan approval was seamless, digital and instant, and loved by credit advisors and loan applicants alike.

Today Monthio is made up of 70+ international professionals, has integrated with the top Nordic banks and credit providers and has been recognized as one of the leading providers of Banking Tech and Reg Tech in Europe.

And with support from prominent investors, the next chapter of Monthio is as ambitious as the original idea.

Our leadership team

Mads Aarup Pedersen

Founder & CEO

Mads holds a wealth of banking experience from international institutions such as RBS, ABN AMRO, Nomura and Danske Bank. Here his main focus was deploying technical solutions for financial institutions, leveraging digital automation to navigate regulations. Having previously created two successful businesses, Mads established Monthio five years ago to utilize the opportunities presented by Open Banking and address the challenges faced by banks.

Rune Heinrichson

Co-founder & CRO

Rune is a co-founder of Monthio and contributes to both the management team and product development. Rune has more than 30 years of experience with global financial markets and regulation, with particular expertise in the credit asset class. Rune has held leadership positions involving the organisational governance and day-to-day management of business risks as well as operational and compliance risks.

Christian Bach Jensen

Chief Commercial Officer

Christian leads all key commercial functions at Monthio, overseeing sales, marketing, and customer success. With a background in senior roles across banking and strategy, he has built and scaled commercial teams, shaped go-to-market strategies, and led large-scale digital transformations.

At Monthio, he steers both growth and the company’s strategic direction as it expands across Europe.

Lars Anker Haugaard

CIO

Lars holds almost 20 years of international work experience in the financial services industry, including Nykredit, AP Pension and Nomura, plus leadership positions at Danske Bank.

His responsibilities at Monthio include, but aren’t limited to, implementing & maintaining our extensive security measures, ensuring scalable operations for entering new markets and overseeing product development to solidify Monthio’s position as a market leader in digitizing the lending process.

Glenn holds more than 25 years experience from Danske Bank, where he held positions in the executive leadership team. With deep insight into banking systems and a proven track record in successfully implementing digitization programs across Europe, Glenn provides invaluable expertise to Monthio's board.

Jakob Ekkelund

Jakob brings extensive strategic experience from leadership roles at TDC and PreSeed Ventures, driving the success of startups. With expertise in metrics and KPIs, Jakob has been instrumental in guiding portfolio companies strategically. He holds a Master's degree in economics from Copenhagen Business School, where he now also lectures.

Jacob Bratting Pedersen

Jacob is an experienced venture capital investor and board member. He is Managing Director and Partner at EIFO, where he leads the Tech investment team. With extensive experience in scale-up investments, Jacob has successfully guided and exited numerous companies. He currently serves on the boards of Podimo, Keepit, Saildrone, and Neurons, among others. Jacob holds an M.Sc. in Business Administration and Commercial Law from Copenhagen Business School.
